Lenses- Focal Length and Field-of-View

In this tutorial we are going to discuss about, What is Focal Length? and What is Field of View? Lets start with Focal Length. Focal Length is the distance in Millimeters from Optical Center of your Lens to your Image Sensor. Shooter Focal Length gives you wider Field of View. Longer Focal Length give you shooter Field of View.

Now we Discuss What is Field of View? Field of View is Determine How much you can see through your camera. There are three type of popular sensor types Full Fram, Crop Senssor and Micro 4/3. If you mount 50mm Lens on Full Fram camera you will get Different Field of View then Crop Senssor or Micro 4/3

Bokeh Basics

Bokeh

In photography, bokeh (originally /ˈboÊŠkÉ›/, /ˈboÊŠkeɪ/ BOH-kay — also sometimes pronounced as /ˈboÊŠkÉ™/ BOH-kÉ™, Japanese: [boke]) is the aesthetic quality of the blur produced in the out-of-focus parts of an image produced by a lens. Bokeh has been defined as "the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light". Differences in lens aberrations and aperture shape cause some lens designs to blur the image in a way that is pleasing to the eye, while others produce blurring that is unpleasant or distracting—"good" and "bad" bokeh, respectively.

Aperture Shutter Speed and ISO

When we use DSLR Camera on manual. We have to consider three aspects of Camera in mind which are following:
  • Aperture
  • Shutter
  • ISO

Aperture

In optics, an aperture is a hole or an opening through which light travels. More specifically, the aperture and focal length of an optical system determine the cone angle of a bundle of rays that come to a focus in the image plane.

Shutter

In photography, a shutter is a device that allows light to pass for a determined period, exposing photographic film or a light-sensitive electronic sensor to light in order to capture a permanent image of a scene.

ISO

ISO stands for International Organization for Standardization. Its determines the light sensitivity of CMOS sensor.

Rule of Thirds

Rule of Thirds

The guideline proposes that an image should be imagined as divided into nine equal parts by two equally spaced horizontal lines and two equally spaced vertical lines, and that important compositional elements should be placed along these lines or their intersections. Proponents of the technique claim that aligning a subject with these points creates more tension, energy and interest in the composition than simply centering the subject.

Depth of Field

Depth of Field

"Focal depth" redirects here. For the seismology term, see Depth of focus (tectonics). The area within the depth of field appears sharp, while the areas beyond the depth of field appear blurry. In optics, particularly as it relates to film and photography, depth of field (DOF), also called focus range or effective focus range, is the distance between the nearest and farthest objects in a scene that appear acceptably sharp in an image. Although a lens can precisely focus at only one distance at a time, the decrease in sharpness is gradual on each side of the focused distance, so that within the DOF, the unsharpness is imperceptible under normal viewing conditions.

Interaction Photography

Interaction Photography

Interaction is a kind of action that occurs as two or more objects(persons) have an effect upon one another. The idea of a two-way effect is essential in the concept of interaction, as opposed to a one-way causal effect.

Perspective

Perspective

The human eye judges distance by the way elements within a scene diminish in size, and the angle at which lines and planes converge. This is called linear perspective. The distance between camera and subject and the lens focal length are critical factors affecting linear perspective.
